Williamson Dr. Myers (J) called the meeting to order at 3:20 p.m. The agenda was APPROVED as submitted On a Yost/Brown motion, the December 14, 2004 minutes were APPROVED ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dr. James Myers had no announcements Dr. Chambers reported he is going to have a meeting with Randy Martin on Thursday, January 20, 2005 regarding Integral Studies. Dr. David Myers distributed the following: M.S. in Food and Nutrition revision EDEX 590 Distance Education Review Form M.S. in Science for Disaster Response SDR 486/586 Selected Topics CRIM 681 Special Topics: Cybercrimes Distance Education Review Form Bologna Agreement (three year degree); will provide the information about this to the ad hoc committee (Janicak, Yost, Chambers) Dr. Soni announced his concern about the graduate and undergraduate catalog not showing dual listed courses anywhere. Stated that the Miller Analogies Test reporting has switched to a new scaled score and proposed that the minimum SGSR requirement be set at a score of 395 (as always, individual programs may set their minimums to be higher than 395). On a Chambers/Ayebo motion the proposal was APPROVED unanimously. Also, he is concerned with the fact that we have recently lost a potential student to a reputable university in our region; the student already possessed a terminal degree but applied to IUP to seek another graduate degree and his request to exempt him from taking GRE was denied by the Department. Dr. Soni mused that the intended purpose of GRE is to predict, in conjunction with other measures, the likelihood of a success as a graduate student but if a student already has an advanced degree, then what is the real purpose of requiring the GRE (GRE-general, not the subject-specific version) in those instances. Dr. Soni intends to present this issue to the Council of Graduate Coordinators, but just wanted to inform the UWGC about this issue.
