Thank you for your questions about IUP’s transition to Asset Essentials, which is an upgrade of our School Dude work order system effective July 1, 2024.
We have appreciated the IUP community’s cooperation and active use of the current School Dude system. However, this system version is no longer supported by our current computer platform.
In order to continue our commitment to a system that is user-friendly and that creates new efficiencies, including more robust communication about the status of your work orders, we have chosen to upgrade to the Asset Essentials program, the “next generation” of School Dude, as our new work order system.
In the Asset Essentials system, the traditional fields are populated for you (location, cost center, and category of work to be performed), saving time for the requester and streamlining the request. Any previously entered work orders that have not been completed have been duplicated in Asset Essentials. You will not have access to prior completed work orders in School Dude, however, you can monitor the progress of uncompleted work orders from School Dude by reaching out to the facilities department at 724-357-2710 or facilities-maintenance@iup.edu. Please note that School Dude has been disabled for requesters as of July 1, 2024.
For those of you who have worked with the School Dude system, we anticipate that the transition to Asset Essentials will be a smooth one. However, in the case that you have any questions or concerns, members of the Administration and Finance team are available to help you, including providing individual or office training sessions. You can reach our offices at 724-357-2710 or you can email me at llmiller@iup.edu.

Asset Essentials also offers a app. To add the app to your devices, click on . The IUP Client ID for the Mobile App is IUOP.
There are also additional “how to” resources:
- A step-by-step guide to Asset Essentials is available on the Requester Guide for using Asset Essentials.
We want the IUP community to become familiar and comfortable with the Asset Essentials system prior to the beginning of the fall semester, so we are here to help you make this transition.
If you have any questions and concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
