John Benhart Jr., a faculty member in the Department of Geography, Geology, Environment, and Planning received two state-level awards at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Geographical Society meeting held in York, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, on November 5, 2021.

At the PGS meeting, the 2021 ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Geographical Society Distinguished Service Award in acknowledgment of “…substantive and long-term service to both the discipline of Geography and to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Geographical Society” and the 2021 Distinguished Mentor Award in recognition of “exceptional commitment and accomplishments in the mentoring of undergraduate or graduate students as well as fellow faculty members.” 

Benhart has been a faculty member at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø for 27 years serving as a professor in the departments of Geography and Regional Planning and Geography, Geology, Environment, and Planning. He received the PGS Distinguished Scholar Award for substantive accomplishments in research in 2014.
