Join the IUP Career and Professional Development Center on Monday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Room in for the Business Attire Fashion Show. This event is also a part of the Six O’Clock Series.
Business attire can be confusing. Have you ever found yourself applying for a great job or internship and as you think about an interview the panic slowly starts to set in… what do I wear? Or maybe you landed your dream position, and you have no clue what your boss means when they say the dress code is business casual. We understand the frustration! Whatever the occasion might be, understanding professional attire is key to making a great first impression.
There will be models dressed in proper professional attire at this program, and attendees can expect to engage in discussion around business attire trends and best practices. Representatives from East Penn Manufacturing, a Spring 2023 Career Ready Seminar Series employer sponsor, will also be in attendance to network with students and share employment opportunities.
This is the first installment of the spring 2023 Career Ready Seminar Series being offered this spring. The Career Ready Seminar Series is inspired by the National Association of Colleges and Employers' career competencies. This type of intentional programming aims to provide targeted presentations to help IUP students understand and gain the necessary skills and competencies to be successful as they transition from higher education into the professional world.
Bennett Nesley, a graduate assistant at the IUP CPDC, helped to coordinate the event and said, “Having appropriate attire and accessories can make all the difference in feeling comfortable in a workplace setting. Still, many young professionals do not consider the impact that clothes can have on their professional expression. The Business Attire Fashion Show is a fun-filled way for students to start thinking about the role of clothes, not just generally but in many different industries and work settings.”
