The Department of Counseling would like to extend its sincerest congratulations to our first PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision graduates. Three members of our inaugural cohort have graduated and helped the department become eligible for accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
Congratulations to Michael Verona! Verona successfully defended his dissertation, “A Quantitative Study Examining the Effect of a Self-Forgiveness Model On Self-Stigma in Individuals Diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders,” on March 5, 2020. Verona was a member of the inaugural Counselor Education and Supervision cohort that started in fall 2017. Holly Branthoover was his chairperson.

She successfully defended her dissertation, “The Influence of Trauma: Examining the Relationship between Childhood Traumatic Experiences and Violent Offenses among Incarcerated Males,” on March 16, 2020.
