Waleed Farag, director of the IUP Institute for Cyber Security and professor of Computer Sciences from the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, received the Sponsored Programs Award for Outstanding Achievement in Public Service at the 26th annual Research Awards recognition, sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies and Research and the IUP Research Institute.
Out of many noteworthy people being deserved recipients of the award in six different fields, ranging from curriculum and instruction to centers and institutes, the committee was pleased to enlist Farag as a distinguished awardee for his contribution in public services in the year 2020.
Over the past few years, Farag has established several novel initiatives and programs that have contributed to the enhancement of cybersecurity at IUP and the entire region of western ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø . He has secured about $2 million in federal grants to support his research as well as the various initiatives he established.
