IUP is proud to host its own chapter of (DAPi).
The first academic honor society of its kind in the nation, Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society was established to recognize high-achieving students with disabilities who are attending college and universities as undergraduate or graduate students. There are now over 170 chapters (and growing) throughout the United States and internationally.
This dynamic organization celebrates and supports academic achievement, leadership, and advocacy for post-secondary students with disabilities (however, taking part in honor society leadership positions is not required of members).
Membership to DAPi is open to all IUP undergraduate or graduate students who simply identify as having a disability.
- Undergraduate initiates must have already completed a minimum of 24 credits and have a current overall Quality Point Average of 3.10+.
- Graduate initiates must have already completed a minimum of 18 credits and have an overall QPA of 3.30+.
No dues are required to join or to maintain membership.
We are planning our spring 2022 initiation ceremony for Wednesday, April 27, at 5:00 p.m. During the ceremony, new member certificates and pins will be awarded to initiates. Additionally, honors cords will be presented to current members who are planning to graduate at the completion of this semester.
If you meet the above-referenced criteria for DAPi membership, and are interested in joining this semester, please contact Todd Van Wieren (IUP faculty co-advisor for DAPi) at toddvw@iup.edu or 724-357-4067.
