Bitna Kim, professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, was recognized at the College of Health and Human Services' 30th annual awardsrecognition ceremony, held virtuallyon May 7, 2020. Please join us in congratulating Professor Kim as the recipient of the 2019-20 Outstanding Teaching Award.
Since 2008, Kim has taught at all levels to include undergraduate, master's, and doctoral coursework. Kim has a well-deserved reputation as one of them most effective and popular classroom instructors in the department, which is evident at any departmental graduation ceremony by the thunderous applause from graduating students.
Kim shows genuine concern for student success and works tirelessly to deliver a multitude of approaches in class assignments and enhance understanding of material, showing the utmost respect to our students. Furthermore, Kim has mentored several McNair scholars and any other student who is interested in research.
Bitna sees her own research as playing a central and integral role in keeping her classes current. Her passion and enthusiasm for what she studies helps students to get excited about class materials. She often uses data she has personally collected to illustrate topics covered in class. In addition, Bitna has also been involved in many teaching experiences internationally, including posts in China, South Korea, and Thailand.
