Tim Hibsman (English Department) published an article titled "Anecdotal Learning: Teaching Through Stories" in Relationship & Family Magazine.
Article Abstract
Every person has storiestales from the trenches. What makes good teachers good? Experience always comes into consideration. Children love to hear about their parents when they were growing up. Parents are often excellent educators as they share their life experiences in an entertaining and education way. Educational institutions love to use statistics to prove a point. Simple anecdotal experiences often reinforce those statistics and provide simple and practical learning scenarios. The best teachers (or parents) are often great story tellers. While sitting in the lunchroom or cooking dinner we all share the activities of our day. These activities can be important to learning and growingthey can also be entertaining and educational.
