The English Department is proud to announce that Composition and Applied Linguistics PhD student RAsheda Young has been awarded a research stipend from Rutgers University.
The stipend is compensation for RAsheda's scholarly contributions to an eight-part synchronous anti-racist pedagogy workshop. Her writings on anti-racist texts and pedagogies emerged from two courses she took with IUP's Cristina Sanchez-Martn: Writing in Transnational Contexts, and Second Language Literacies. Awarded by Rutgers University's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, this stipend will support RAsheda's teaching and further research on composition.
In August 2019, RAsheda accepted a full-time position at Rutgers University, where she currently teaches writing courses. In addition to teaching, she has also been delivering virtual workshops in response to Black Lives Matter and COVID-19, contributing as a member to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, attending conferences to further her research, and pursuing her doctoral degree from IUP.
