IUP's Iota Mu Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Hispanic Honor Society, celebrated its fiftieth initiation ceremony on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Welcomed to active membership were: Isabelle Clayton (Food and Nutrition, Spanish, chemistry minor), Ana Gutiérrez-Quintino (Spanish), Julia Jasiewicz (Psychology, Spanish minor), Noah Rhea (criminology, political science, Spanish minor), Ebonee Spriggs (nursing, Spanish), Mirna Torres Ayala (geology, Spanish) and Brynn Wingard (Spanish education, anthropology minor). Naysa Altmeyer, a 2009 alumna of IUP’s Spanish Education program and Spanish/ESL teacher in the River Valley School District, delivered the initiation address.
Department of Foreign Languages faculty members Christina Huhn, Charles McCreary, Sean McDaniel, and Dawn Smith-Sherwood (chapter advisor) participated in the initiation ritual.
