Calm for 2020 and Beyond: 4:00-5:00 p.m. Want to learn to stress less? We all know that COVID-19 is unprecedented, but that doesn't mean we are unprepared to cope with the challenges the pandemic can have on our mental health. This presentation, designed for faculty and students, will focus on strategies to cope with the new and familiar stressors that have defined 2020. Learn how to practice self-care, manage racing thoughts and worry, and adapt to the near-constant feeling of uncertainty all around us this year. The skills reviewed in this presentation will help you keep calm in 2020 and beyond.

Finding My New Normal as a College Student. 6:00-7:00 p.m. Alexis Williams, IUP alumna and author of My Truth, My Trauma, is a self-care, trauma-informed African American woman therapist practicing out of Philadelphia. In this event, she will discuss her life and writings and cover various topics around the importance of self-care, especially during this global pandemic. Included will be a discussion of the stressors of balancing personal life with school and home, and elaborating on the importance of boundaries and communication, along with maintaining personal safety, bringing awareness to the sensitivity of the climate we are in now, and how important it is to respect one another during this time. She will also discuss trauma and families, with time at the end for answering questions. Sponsored by the IUP Social Equity and Title IX Office.
