During this Women’s History Month, IUP Libraries and the Office of Social Equity and Title IX will host a book talk relating highlights from A Laboratory of Her Own: Women and Science in Spanish Culture. This 2021 edited collection of essays explores the intersection of women, science, and Spanish cultural production informed by STEM topics such as artificial intelligence, biodiversity, neuroscience, and quantum physics. The presentation will take place via on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The presenters are Victoria Ketz, professor and chair of Global Languages, Literature, and Perspectives at LaSalle University; Dawn Smith-Sherwood, professor of Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages at IUP, and Debra Faszer-McMahon, dean of the School of Humanities and professor of Spanish at Seton Hill University.

The discussion will also cover the co-editors' writing and publication process and reflect on the benefits of collaborative research, traditionally less practiced in the humanities than in the sciences, and its value to both their professional and personal lives.
