The 75-piece University Band of the IUP Community Music School and IUP Music Department will present a free concert on the Fisher Auditorium outdoor patio in the IUP Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.
Led by IUP music professor Jason Worzbyt, the program will feature marches, including the US Field and Artillery March, the Red Cross March, and Military Escort March, as well as others; a patriotic selection honoring our veterans; a piccolo solo with IUP music professor Terri Wacker, performing Yankee Doodle Variations for Piccolo and Band; IUP President Michael Driscoll narrating Sam Hazo's "Their Blossoms Down"; and other favorites such as selections from My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music.
In the event of rain, the concert will be held in DiCicco Hall (Rm. 121) of Cogswell Hall at the same time, 7:00 p.m.
Be sure to bring a lawn chair and your favorite non-alcoholic beverage, and enjoy a traditional summer band concert as the University Band and IUP Community Music School begin a new tradition of outdoor band concerts for the Indiana community and region!
