The Division of Marketing and Communications seeks students to fill five or more work-study positions.
Marketing and Communicationsknown as MarComis the office that markets IUP by telling our stories to the world, though television, print, and all types of digital media. If you have an interest in graphic design, marketing, multimedia, social media, videography, or web design, this is a great opportunity to get hands-on, real world experience.
In many cases, these work-study jobs can double as internships. Our interns and students have a great track record after graduation, using their experience with us to get into prestigious graduate schools, work for national brands, found their own agencies, and more.
The hourly rate for these jobs can vary based on your experience. Some positions may be spring only, others may have the opportunity to continue through the summer and into next year.
All of these positions require:
- A federal work-study award (If you're not sure if you have one, you can ; look for the "Your federal work study eligibility" link.)
- Excellent verbal and written and communications skills.
- Organization and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to also do some general office duties, including deliveries and pick-ups across campus
Here's who we're looking for:
Digital Team Student Member
As a student member of the Digital Team, you'll gain experience in web analytics, content management systems, web accessibility, and search engine optimization.
Graphic Designer
If you have an interest in art and design and would like to train alongside industry professionals to produce real-world (portfolio building!) work, this is the place for you. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite helpful but not necessary.
Marketing Assistant
Works on marketing projects that involve all areas of MarCom. Includes marketing research (both by phone and internet), fact checking, possible work on IUP Magazine, competitive analyses, and more. To apply to be a marketing assistant, contact Chrissy Putt at cmputt@iup.edu.
Multimedia Production Assistant
Assist the multimedia producer on video and photography shoots and in the office. You'll receive experience in every aspect of multimedia content creation including planning, staging, execution, and post-production. Social Media Assistant
As a social media coordinator you'll help manage IUP's main social accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Snapchat. The ideal candidate is active on social media, stays aware of current and coming trends, loves a good story and photo, and has pride for IUP. You'll attend photo shoots, design content for social channels, have chances to go behind the scenes of events, and work with IUP's creative team to help produce content for IUP's social media.
Video Production Assistant
Assist with video production. Production assistants will be on each shoot (as their class schedule permits) to help transport gear, set up, assist during production, tear down, and load gear back to the office. On non-shoot days, you'll review footage, cut together clips, create basic graphics and animations, and learn how to use all of our production gear.
