IUP Department of Music students and faculty will be participating in several activities throughout Homecoming Weekend, October 2-3, 2021. We look forward to seeing our alumni. Please stop by and say hello!
Homecoming activities start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, with the Homecoming parade. Hear the IUP Marching Band, under the direction of IUP alumnus Nevin Saylor, as they march down Philadelphia Street. The drumline will then make an appearance at the Crimson Huddle, which begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. The Homecoming game kicks off at 2:00 p.m. against Gannon.
Alumni are invited to attend the annual Homecoming Wind Ensemble concert on Sunday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Timothy Paul, will perform a program including First Suite in Eb for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1 (Holst),West Side Story Selections (Bernstein), The EARTH (Nagao ), and Cherry Blossom Brilliance (Koh). Graduate conductors Ken Maski and Lexi Bixler will conduct the Holst and Bernstein.
Paul said, "We're glad to finally be able to perform as a full ensemble and present our performance to a live audience. For a good number of students, this will be their first college Wind Ensemble experience for a live audience."
