During the annual Opening of the Academic Year program on August 22, 2014 in Fisher Auditorium, President Michael Driscoll applauded successes of the previous academic year and outlined cultural attributes that will help IUP to realize its strategic vision.
He cited completing the vision for IUP's future, setting in motion the strategic planning process, and the opening of the Military Resource Center among last year's accomplishments, as well establishing stronger alliances with the community as it pertains to excessive student partying.
“We are a university on the move—and we're beginning to move in the same direction,” Driscoll said. “I could not be more proud to work with so many people who love this institution, who are invested in its progress, and who are committed to seeing it become the university we dream it should be.”
Driscoll also emphasized cultural attributes that will ensure IUP reaches its shared vision. They are care; collaboration and accomplishment; innovation and inclusiveness; transparency and evidence-based decision making; and integrity and accountability.
“Practicing these things in all that we do will seal the deal on how we educate the whole student,” Driscoll said.
