All of us—including our outstanding faculty—are here for the same reason.
With the announcement of a tentative agreement with the faculty union, we can return our focus to this core mission: providing the highest quality education to our students.
This has been a very challenging time for us all. Thank you, members of the IUP community, for your good work and positive spirit during this difficult time. And thank you, students and families, for your patience.
I have been very impressed with the professional, collegial behavior of our faculty; the thoughtful actions of our students; and the work of all members of the university family to maintain our commitment to taking care of students and to continue the work of this university.
IUP is a very special place. Over the last four years, we have developed strong, positive working relationships that led to the high level of civility and respect for one another that I have seen in the last few weeks. This tells me that we are doing something very right.
While many details are yet to be resolved, I am confident that—by working together—we will move forward in the best interests of our university.
