Dear IUP Community,

On June 19, 2019, Governor Wolf signed legislation that designates June 19 as Juneteenth National Freedom Day in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

IUP is pleased to observe this annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

In recognition of this day, all IUP classes are canceled for June 18, 2021, and most university offices will be closed. Exceptions to closures on June 18 include University Police and dining services in the Hadley Union Building, which will follow the established dining schedule.

Teaching faculty members are expected to make up time for canceled classes. Employees, if your responsibilities require you to work on the holiday, your individual schedule will be communicated to you by your supervisor.

IUP firmly stands behind the importance of striving for justice and equality. I encourage our university community to use this time to reflect on what equality and justice truly mean in our society. You can learn more about Juneteenth courtesy of the or .

As we work together to unify our communities, please join me in recognizing Juneteenth National Freedom Day in celebration of the historic moment of emancipation in the United States.

Sincerely,
Michael A. Driscoll
President
