Ammar Mahmoud, a doctoral candidate in the Curriculum and Instruction program, won the Dean’s Award for his project “Developing a Plan to Handle Any College-level Writing Assignment’ at the 2024 IUP Scholars Forum. Ammar presented his project as a poster.
Abstract
This poster presents a time-efficient plan to help college students with their writing assignments. By following seven easy steps, students can develop a peer-reviewed draft that meets the grading criteria and cites required readings effectively. The plan starts with tips on analyzing the assignment prompt and drafting an outline. The next steps show how to do strategic reading and use annotated notes. This is followed by suggestions on writing a final draft and reviewing it before submission.
