Dana Winters

Dana Winters (SAHE 2008), assistant vice president for academic affairs at Saint Vincent College, was the closing keynote speaker at the NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising annual conference in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, October 30.

The theme of the annual conference was "A Beautiful Day in the Burgh: Championing Advisors as Helpers." Winters’ address was titled "Look for the Helpers, and Other Lessons Learned from Mister Rogers."

Winters previously served as the Rita McGinley Executive Director and Faculty Chair of the Fred Rogers Institute at Saint Vincent College.

Morgan Rizzardi (SAHE 2009), dean of students at Butler County Community College, said of Winters' closing address, “Dana reminded us that even though Mister Rogers mainly spoke to children, that much of what he taught can be applied to the work we do—as helpers, advisors, and lifelong learners. Revel in the curiosity, sit in the solitude, and don’t forget…it’s OK to play!”
