The IUP Libraries and Jones White Writing Center are sponsoring a Research Writing Party! Come to the second floor of Stabley (in the Library) on Thursday, October 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. to learn more about research and writing-oriented services, meet with reference librarians and writing tutors, and much more!
Our Research Party will feature:
- Therapy Dogs
- Free pizza and refreshments
- Writing-related games and prizes
- Tutorials and information on research and writing at IUP
- Roving résumé reviews with the CPDC
- Prize drawings every 30 minutes for students and faculty who visit the party
- Students will be able to ask questions, sign up for a tutorial, get handouts and help sheets on various information. Students can “drop in” for a short while or stay for the party and work with our Writing Center and Library staff on a one-on-one or small group tutorial.
Faculty who bring their students are also entered for prize drawings!
Some of the topics include:
- Learning how research is done in different fields including STEM, Business, Education, Social Sciences, and Humanities
- Getting help with finding and integrating sources
- Using library databases and search features
- Writing research-based arguments
- Integrating sources and avoiding plagiarism
- Organizing your sources and writing
- Finding your voice as an academic writer
- Resources from the Writing Center and Library
