Honduras CONFERENCE IN HONDORUS - Biology Professor Josiah Townsend and two graduate students, T.J. Firneno and Alexander Hess, and two undergraduates, Gretchen McCormick and Kayla Weinfurther, presented results of their research at the 18th annual Congress of the Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation, held October 13-17, 2014, in Copn Ruinas, Honduras.

IUP Biology Club

The Biology Club assists the campus community by promoting the profession and study of biology. Mentoring is available for undergraduates.

Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) supports undergraduate and other students in their quest to master, appreciate, and share insights about the study of biology.

The IUP Chapter of the Ecological Society of America's SEEDS (Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity, and Sustainability) Club is an engaging group that is active in the areas of conservation and ecology. You will join a versatile group of conservation-oriented students who are dedicated to raising public awareness of ecological science. An annual seed swap is held by the club.

The American Medical Student Association provides monthly meetings where students make presentations about their internship experiences. Guest speakers also enhance the meetings.

Freshman Honors Society

The Freshman Honors Society includes biology and chemistry majors and provides scholarship opportunities.

Special Biology Summer Course to Africa

The Department of Biology at IUP offers both undergraduate and graduate courses in Southern Africa during the summer.

Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology

Biology majors can expand their selection of course offerings by participating in a cooperative program with the University of Pittsburgh's field station at the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology, located in northwestern ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Osteopathic Medicine Early Acceptance Programs

IUP has "Early Acceptance" agreements with both Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM).

Medical College-IUP Physician Shortage Area Program

IUP has established a cooperative family medicine physician education program with Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for the purpose of improving the distribution of physicians in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
