As man-made structures such as thin films, nanoparticles and nano structures approach the atomic limit, finite size effectsplay more and more significant roles. An understanding of these size effects is crucial for the development of nano-sized materials with useful properties. Previous experiments have shown that very interesting effects occur in the 2-3 dimensional crossover in complex material. In recent years, an understanding of the dynamic growth of spatial correlations in spin glass memory effects has been sought. Thin films will allow us to observe the effects of limitations on these spatial correlations. To this end, we intend to produce and characterize thin film and multilayer structures, using the bulk analysis techniques and, for analysis of surface spin dynamics, SP-STM techniques
