Background
Vicky Ortiz joined the Communications Media Department in 2013 after finishing her PhD at Purdue University, where she studied the role communication plays in the organizing of social movements.
Here at IUP, she most often teaches COMM 101 to welcome students to the communications media major. Additionally, she enjoys teaching courses about gender, media effects, and public relations. At the graduate level, Ortiz teaches qualitative research methods, corporate communication, health communication, and teaching courses.
Ortiz enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid football fan—just ask anyone who goes up against her in fantasy football.
