The IUP Police Academy will host a 235 full class at the GEO Group in Phillipsburg, PA, February 3–6, 2025. The recertification class will be Feb. 6, 2025, at the same location. Class will begin at 0900 hours. Please contact Marcia.cole@iup.edu for registration information.
Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training Class

Basic Certification (40 Hours)
- Classroom portion: 24 hours
- Defensive Tactics: 6 Hours
- Firearms Training: 10 hours
Requirements and Warnings

Do not bring any weapons into the classroom portion of training.

All class sessions must be attended (tardiness will not be accepted).

Active participation is required.

Horseplay in any form will not be tolerated.

On the range, the Range Master has unquestioned authority. Any infraction of policy or procedure will result in ejection from training, forfeiture of payment, and disqualification from all future trainings at CJTC.

Notify the instructor immediately of any problems or issues that may arise.

Applicant must have an approved certification letter from the state authorizing Act 235 training.

Applicant must have a driver's license.

Applicant must provide their own weapon, eye protection, hearing protection, and ammo. (Please see registration form for ammunition amounts.)
Act 235 Lethal Weapons Re-Certification Training Class
8.5-hour class

Basic Recertification Fee: $200 per person
- Applicant will need to bring their own firearm (firearms will not be provided).
- Applicant will also need to bring their own eye and hearing protection.
- Applicant will need to bring 90 rounds of ammunition (minimum) for their firearm.
- Applicant will need to bring four .00 buckshot rounds and two slug rounds for a 12-gauge shotgun.
