The IUP professional student chapter of the Club Management Association of America was organized in 2006 to provide mentoring, internship, and career opportunities with the private club industry.  In April 2009 the course HOSP 212 Club Operations Management was added to the curriculum as an elective.  The IUP Student CMAA chapter is affiliated with the .

About Club Managers Association of America

The is the professional association for managers of membership clubs. Founded in 1927, CMAA’s approximately 7,000 members contribute to the success of more than 3,000 country, golf, athletic, city, faculty, military, town, and yacht clubs. The objectives of the Association are to promote relationships between club management professionals and other similar professions; to encourage the education and advancement of members; and to provide the resources needed for efficient and successful club operations.

Pittsburgh Chapter of the Club Management Association of America (Pittsburgh Chapter CMAA)

Consists of the following boundaries in the State of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and West Virginia: Western PA, including Elk, Clearfield, Clair and Bedford Counties, and all west thereof except the for northernmost counties of Erie, Crawford, Warren and McKean; plus the counties of Preston, Taylor, Harrison, Doddridge and Tyler, and all north thereof in West Virginia.

Pittsburgh Chapter CMAA includes professional members and student members, representing country, golf, city and racquet, and boating and fishing clubs. As a collective of small to medium-sized local businesses, our Chapter's private clubs support thousands of jobs and have an economic footprint of approximately $200 million per year.

Pittsburgh Club Managers Foundation

Established June 2017, The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Club Management Foundation (PCMF) was established.   PCMF creates an IUP specific Hospitality Management CMAA scholarship and an internship scholarship (). Stephen B. Shiring and Yasong (Alex) Wang serve on the PCMF Board of Directors.

  • Student and Faculty Education Registrations:  The PCMF funds registrations for up to six students and one faculty advisor (for each Student Chapter) at every Pittsburgh Chapter of CMAA education session.
  • Fundraising Matching:  Both Student Chapters have received a commitment from the PCMF to match their annual fundraising programs dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000 each.  This program supports their attendance at conferences and for on-campus programs.
  • Student Chapter GLRC Registrations:  We offer registration subsidies or full tuition support for Student Chapter members, and faculty advisors attending the Great Lakes Regional Conference.
  • Hospitality Management Student Scholarships:  This scholarship is available to any IUP Student Chapter member.
  • Intern Scholarships:  This scholarship is available to any student-intern or current employee of a Pittsburgh Chapter of CMAA member club.
