Learning English is more fun when there are interesting activities to share with your new friends at the American Language Institute. Travel to historic places in the region, drive-in movie theaters, Fourth of July fireworks, and big city trips are just some of the activities planned throughout the academic year.
Activities for ALI Students
The staff plans events that give ALI students opportunities to learn about life in the United States, both on and off the university campus. We encourage students to check the activity board in Eicher for announcements and to sign up for events. Day trips and longer excursions are planned to coincide with the seasons throughout the year; and of course, ALI students are encouraged to participate in all IUP campus events.
One-Day Field Trips and Local Attractions
In addition to longer weekend excursions, ALI students visit attractions in the Indiana area. Day trips and activities include: a visit to ; bowling, skiing and ice skating; pumpkin carving at the local Autumn Festival; a visit to the ; and celebrating the end of winter on .
Pittsburgh University and Cultural Districts

Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater
Considered by many people to be one of the best examples of American architecture, was built over a waterfall and incorporated into its woodland surroundings. Originally the summer residence of Pittsburgh's Kaufmann family, the home is now a museum honoring both the family and , the architect who designed it.

Grove City Premium Outlets
This is an open-air shopping mall located in Grove City, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. About 50 miles north of Pittsburgh, includes more than 130 brand-name outlet stores, a food court, and one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' official team stores. It is one of the largest outlet malls in the United States.

Longer excursions are scheduled over weekends so student class schedules are not disrupted. Trips to other destinations to experience local festivals and national holidays may be scheduled throughout the year in response to student requests.
