An Evening of Story Legends in Music and Dance
November 01, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center
This event is over.
Join us for a memorable evening as the IUP Dance Theater and Music faculty present two well-known dance works, Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland and The Soldier's Tale (Histoire Du Soldat) by Igor Stravinsky.
Co-directed by Jack Stamp and Holly Boda-Sutton, these two masterful works do well to give clear understanding of why their composers will live throughout history as the greats who encapsulated the American and Russian heritage and culture of their time.
Of Stravinsky, Aaron Copland stated that “[he] proved it was possible for a 20-century composer to create his own tradition.” Working during the same era, these two legendary artists developed distinctly unique musical sound worlds that would impact composers for generations to come.
Tickets are priced at $15 (regular), $12 (discount for senior citizens and groups of 15 or more), and $10 (I-Card holder, students, and children).
