The Litton Quartet, IUP's resident faculty string quartet, will present another special recital with works planned to include Haydn's String Quartet in G Major Opus 77, no. 1; Beethoven's Quartet Number 9, Opus 59, no. 3; and “Dances in Time” by Stanley Chepaitis.
The Litton Quartet is comprised of Stanley and Swana Chepaitis, violins; Raul Fauré, viola; and Linda Jennings, cello.
Over the six years of its existence, the quartet has premiered new works by composers Stanley Chepaitis, Raymond Helble, Jack Stamp, Mike Barnett, and David Martynuik. They have joined more experimental collaborations with jazz artists John Stowell and Nathan Santos. They have also presented a broad selection of the incredible literature for quartet, including works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Dvorak, Smetana, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.
Stanley Chepaitis holds a DMA and a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Swana Chepaitis received a Diploma in Violin Pedagogy from the Hochschule fuer Kuenste in Bremen, Germany.
Fauré is a native of Santiago, Chile, where he studied at the Catholic University and performed with the Orquestra Sinfonica de Chile prior to moving to the U.S. Jennings holds a Master of Music degree from USC and a DMA from the University of Texas at Austin.
