Altagracia Moquette graduated from IUP in 2013 with a BA in Criminology and a minor in sociology. Currently, she is in her last semester of graduate school for her master's in social work at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to her graduate work, Altagracia interns part-time with Community Human Services (CHS) Corporation, primarily visiting homeless encampments in the North Side region of Pittsburgh and providing food, water, and linkage to housing. She is currently working with CHS and other outreach providers to develop a citywide policy that will provide protections for homeless encampments.
Altagracia also works part-time at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. At the DHS, she provides school district resource mapping and updated resources on food access, health care, summer camp, and scholarships.
After graduation, Altagracia would like to gain additional experience with local government, law enforcement, and community organizing before continuing her education. In the future she plans to pursue a doctorate in sociology with specific interest in restorative justice and issues faced by the homeless population.
