Dear IUP community,

As we do, Governor Tom Wolf and Chancellor Dan Greenstein recognize the importance of Juneteenth, an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Today, Governor Wolf designated Friday, June 19, 2020, as Juneteenth National Freedom Day, a special holiday for all employees in agencies under the governor's jurisdiction. IUP and the State System firmly stand behind the importance of striving for justice and equality. In recognition of this day, all classes and work are canceled for tomorrow [June 19, 2020]. I encourage our university community to use this time to reflect on what equality and justice truly mean in our society. You can learn more about Juneteenth, .

Teaching faculty members are expected to make up time for canceled classes. .

As we work together to unify our communities, please join me in recognizing Juneteenth National Freedom Day as a historic moment that celebrates emancipation in the United States.

Sincerely,
Michael Driscoll
President
