In early November, the Commencement Committee announced plans to hold winter Commencement virtually. The ceremony, honoring December 2020 and January 2021 graduates, will be posted on the Commencement website Saturday, December 12.
In addition to the virtual ceremony, colleges were planning smaller, in-person celebrations. Because of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the county, those in-person celebrations are canceled. This decision was not made lightly. Ultimately, the health and safety of graduates and their families are the university's primary concern.
The Commencement Committee will continue to think of ways to honor graduates in the future. For now, students are encouraged to participate in the virtual ceremony. To be recognized in that ceremony, graduates must complete the by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1.
Visit the Commencement website for more information on the virtual ceremony. For other graduation resources, visit the Graduation Information page.
