Mary Morgan, assistant vice president, Office of Alumni and Friends, will be retiring from her work at IUP on June 29. She has served the university for more than 29 years.
Morgan, a 1991 magna cum laude business administration graduate of IUP, worked in the Office of University Advancement as a student. She began her career at IUP just five months after graduation as associate director of Annual and Planned Giving. From there, she moved into the director of Annual Giving position, serving as associate campaign director for the Campaign for IUP. She then advanced to assistant director of Alumni Relations, then University Events manager, followed by associate director of Alumni Relations. Her next milestones were director of Alumni Relations and, ultimately, assistant vice president, Office of Alumni and Friends.
“I am deeply grateful for all that Mary has done for the university and our alumni and friends' community,” Vice President for University Advancement Khatmeh Osseiran-Hanna said. “She has been an inspirational leader to her team over the years, and her dedication and commitment to ensuring the success of University Advancement and the Alumni Association of the university have been invaluable.
“Of course, Mary's wealth of institutional knowledge in alumni and friends' engagement, relationship building, fundraising, her good work in the community and with the IUP family, and so much more throughout her time here have contributed to the university and the engagement of our students. To say that she will be greatly missed by many across the campus and throughout the IUP family and friends' network would be an understatement.
“I know that for those of us in University Advancement, we will miss her wisdom, counsel, and her friendship. Mary's retirement is much deserved, and we have been fortunate to have had her on our team. We are sad to see her leave as an employee; however, we look forward to engaging with her in a new capacity as she begins this new chapter in her life. We look forward to a celebration in her honor in the future. In the meantime, please join me in wishing her well as she embarks on this new journey.”
In light of Morgan's retirement and other personnel transitions, the Division of University Advancement will be reorganizing. Information about the Division reorganization will be announced this summer.
