To be named a Provost Scholar, students must have earned a minimum of 45 semester hours at IUP with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Provost Scholar recognition is given only once during a student's time of study at IUP.

Interim Director of Public Safety and University Police to Retire; Campbell to Serve as Interim Director

University Testing Center to Close Permanently

Due to decreasing demand and a shift to more online exams by the majority of testing companies, the IUP University Testing Center will not be reopened. WWII Crash Site in Germany Is Field School's Focus

Nine undergraduate and two graduate students from IUP’s Anthropology Department are excavating the site of a WWII plane crash in Germany through an IUP field school. The project is part of a continuing US effort to account for missing military personnel from the nation’s past conflicts.

The Story behind “The IUP Story”

Professor emeritus Charles Cashdollar’s “The IUP Story” will be published later this summer. In his more than 10 years of research and writing, Cashdollar found two predominant themes throughout IUP’s history: “consistent commitment to excellence” and “persistence in overcoming obstacles.”

IUP Alumni Create Scholarship in Honor of “Boardwalk Bowl” to Benefit Student-Athletes

IUP graduates Gerald Clark ’69 and his wife, Cheryl Dunlap Clark ’68, natives of Punxsutawney and current residents of DuBois since 1973, have made a $25,000 gift to establish the Jerry and Cheryl Clark Boardwalk Bowl Scholarship, one of a family of eight endowments to be established by members of IUP’s Boardwalk Bowl football team to benefit student-athletes in the football program.

Dean's List for Spring 2021

Undergraduate students receive recognition on the Dean’s List for each semester (or summer session cumulatively) in which they earn at least a 3.25 GPA based on at least 12 credits of graded (not P/F) undergraduate coursework, or a combination of graded graduate and undergraduate coursework.  

IUP Continuing Beaver Run Reservoir Testing

şÚÁĎłÔąĎÍř faculty members and students will continue an 11th year of water testing at the Beaver Run Reservoir through a contract with the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County. The project began in June 2011.

Kopchick Hall: On the Rise

Making Lightbulb Moments

Justin Brown went from a diverse home community to a university setting in which the other Black faces were few. Students Sleep Outside to Help Homeless Veterans

Members of IUP’s military service fraternity, Rho Tau Chi, as well as Phi Delta Theta fraternity, will sleep outside this weekend to raise awareness and money for homeless veterans. A February tradition, the sleepout will start at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, and end at the same time Sunday, February 14, at the Indiana Walmart. The volunteers will collect cash and check donations as well as cleaning supplies for Indiana County’s Veterans Parsonage.

IUP Graduate Gifts $25,000 for Outstanding IUP Computer Science Students

For the past 15 years, the Barry Day Outstanding Computer Science Student Award has been given to a senior computer science student, selected by the department, who has demonstrated academic achievements and contributions to the department, or who has made significant achievements in computer science endeavors and contributions to mankind.

IUP Receives Fourth Year of “It's On Us PA” Funding

şÚÁĎłÔąĎÍř has received a $30,000 grant through şÚÁĎłÔąĎÍř Governor Tom Wolf’s “It’s On Us PA” initiative to combat campus sexual assault through a Community Bystander Intervention program.

Spring 2021 Classes to Begin via Remote Instruction

IUP will begin classes for the spring semester on Tuesday, January 19, via remote instruction. In-person instruction for classes scheduled in that format will begin three weeks into the spring semester, which is Monday, February 8. We strongly encourage students to begin their remote studies for the spring semester away from campus and the Indiana community.
