Update from Indiana Borough Police on False Reports of Shootings

At approximately 7:35 p.m. IBPD officers, IUP PD officers, and Homer City PD officers responded to the report of an active threat incident in a business parking lot in the area of South 8th Street, Indiana Borough.

Information for Students: Support Following the Oct. 8, 2023, Off-campus Incident

As part of the investigation by ϳԹ State Police about the October 8 violence at the Chevy Chase Community Center, persons in attendance at the event may have been required to turn over personal items, including cellphones, to police; or, in the confusion of the event and leaving the community center, you may have left personal items at the scene.

Director of Public Safety/University Police Chief Candidate Visit

Three candidates for the position of Director of Public Safety/University Police Chief will be on campus between Tuesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 12, with one candidate visiting each day. All IUP community members are encouraged to attend a university-wide open forum for each candidate, which will also be live-streamed.

National Police Week and Peace Officer Memorial Day

Peace Officers Memorial Day, which every year falls on May 15, specifically honors law enforcement officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. IUP’s Police Department will host a memorial service on Wednesday, May 12, at noon in Toretti Auditorium at the Kovalchick Athletic and Convention Center. The public is welcome to attend.

Parking Garage Temporarily Closed May 9–27

The IUP Parking Garage will be temporarily closed for necessary annual cleaning and maintenance beginning on Sunday, May 9, 2021. The garage is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 28.

Don't Forget to Spring Forward this Sunday

Daylight savings time begins at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 14. After setting your clocks forward an hour this weekend, check off a few items from this list to stay ahead of emergencies.

Test of IUP's Emergency Notification System to be Held on Wednesday, Feb. 17

The test will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. and will include text messaging, voice calls, email, and desktop alerts. Testing of the public address system will come at a later date.

National Burn Awareness Week Kicks Off

Nearly 500,000 people are treated for burns each year. The primary causes of injury include fire/flame, scalds, electrical, and chemical burns. The ϳԹ Office of the State Fire Commissioner is encouraging ϳԹns to learn more about burn hazards, and how to avoid injury, in observance of National Burn Awareness Week, February 7–13, 2021.

Reminder: Full Parking Enforcement in Effect

Please be reminded that full parking enforcement is in effect. Valid parking permits must be clearly displayed while parking in Commuter, Faculty, Staff, and Long-term designated parking lots on the IUP campus. When parked in a pay-by-space area, you must pay, in advance, for the time you will be parked.

COVID-19 Free Public Testing Clinic, February 13–17

In an effort to mitigate the local spread of COVID-19, the Department of Health will, once again, be offering free COVID-19 testing. Anyone is eligible to be tested, symptomatic or not.
