To serve as a reminder, all members of the IUP community are invited to attend the service of remembrance and honor for the late David L. Johnson on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in Gorell Recital Hall, located on the second floor of Sutton Hall.

I also encourage all members of the IUP community to attend the public meeting of the Council of Trustees on Friday, May 1, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall, located on the second floor of Sutton Hall.

There are several items to be acted upon by the trustees:

  1. The review and approval of a new Master of Arts in Spanish program
  2. A resolution honoring and in memory of Officer Stephen Mayhle, a 2002 graduate of IUP's Criminology Department, and David L. Johnson, a 29-year alumnus, friend, and member of the IUP Council of Trustees
  3. Resolutions honoring athletics

Resolutions honoring Distinguished Faculty in research, service, and teaching as well as resolutions of appreciation will be presented to Vice President for University Relations Robert Davies, student trustee Chad E. Buckwalter, and student Board of Governors representative Jessica E. Carson.

I hope that you will be able to join other university community members in attending this important meeting as your schedule permits.
