How to Change Your Undergraduate Primary or Secondary Major
Please see the Undergraduate Catalog to review the Change of Major policy. Go to the search bar located in the upper left of the page. Use the drop-down menu and select Entire Catalog and type Major Changes in the search field below. Then select the link to view the full policy.
How to Do It
(Primary or Secondary Program, Dual Degree, Double Major)
- Incoming freshmen (before classes begin): use this Office of Admissions major change request form.
- Current students:
- In the MyIUP portal:
- Log in to and go to Discover. Search for "change my major." On the Modify My Academic Record card, click Change your primary or secondary major.
- In the MyIUP portal:
Details
- Submission of this form will begin the approval process—department chair, then on to the assistant or associate dean, then on to the Registrar's Office.
- Once the Registrar's Office has changed the major, the new academic department will assign a new academic advisor.
- The student will then receive an email confirmation that the process has been completed.
Minors:
How to Do It
- Log in to MyIUP.
- Go to Discover and search for "minor."
- On the Modify My Academic Record card, select Add or Drop a Minor.
Details
- Submission of this form will begin the approval process—department chair and then on to the Registrar's Office.
- Once the minor has been changed by the Registrar's Office, a new academic advisor will be assigned by the new academic department.
- The student will then receive email confirmation that the process has been completed.
Certificates:
How to Do It

- On the Modify My Academic Record card, select Add or Drop a Certificate.
