Located in Sally B. Johnson Hall, the Department of Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering was established in 1971 within the College of Health and Human Services to conduct professional programs in safety management.
We've educated more than 3,500 safety and health professionals, with employment placement rates ranging from 70 to 95 percent. Our graduates have excelled in their careers and are employed in a variety of industries, such as chemicals, construction, steel, consulting, insurance, and manufacturing.
Our facilities include industrial hygiene, fire safety, construction, ergonomics labs, and more.
