Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Career Fair

The annual IUP Safety Sciences and Environmental Engineering Career Fair will be on September 25–26, 2024.

Wednesday, September 25, will be the Meet and Greet with students event at the KCAC from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, September 26, recruiters will attend the sit-down luncheon at 11:00, and the Career Fair will take place from noon to 2:30 at the KCAC. Rooms for interviewing students will be held following the Career Fair on September 26 and all day on September 27, if interested.

ϳԹ has received more than $460,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture to develop a specialized Biosafety/Biorisk Management Certificate program at IUP.

Researchers Awarded MEMIC Grant to Help Reduce Workplace Slips, Trips, Falls

The MEMIC Group, specialists in workers’ compensation insurance, has awarded $30,000 to a faculty research team in IUP’s Department of Safety Sciences to investigate ways to limit workplace slips, trips, and falls.

Safety Sciences Mourns Passing of Robert McClay, Jr.

It is with deep regret that the Department of Safety Sciences announces the passing of Robert McClay, Jr., who joined IUP in the summer of 1972 as the first tenure-track faculty member in the newly formed Department of Safety Sciences.

Safety Sciences Salutes Students and Faculty

The Department of Safety Sciences congratulates its fall 2020 Provost Scholars. To be named a Provost Scholar, students must have earned a minimum of 45 semester hours at IUP with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Provost Scholar recognition is given only once during a student’s time of study at IUP.

The American Society of Safety Professional's Editorial Review Board and the Council on Professional Development announced that Christopher Janicak and Majed Zreiqat’s article, “Perception Surveys: Development and Analysis to Study Safety Issues,” received the second-place Professional Safety Article of the Year Award.
