“Creating Inclusive Spaces” Workshop for Faculty and Programming Staff

Hosted by the President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion, guest speaker and IUP alumnus Justin Brown will present a virtual workshop for IUP faculty and programming staff on Friday, October 23. The workshop will provide faculty and staff an opportunity to engage in conversations regarding DEI in the classroom and at campus events.

The IUP Hispanic Heritage Council will host two main events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month 2020. Both are free and open to the entire campus community.

Message to Students, Employees, and University-Related Personnel From Your Title IX Coordinator

Elise Glenn, chief Diversity and Inclusion officer and Title IX coordinator, addresses IUP’s commitment to an educational and work environment free from any form of sexual discrimination or other prohibited sexual misconduct, plus policy changes, available resources, and support services.

Online Reporting Option for Incidents of Concern

Every person has the right to be heard, and ϳԹ takes concerns and complaints very seriously. An online reporting option for incidents of concern can be found at the bottom of every IUP web page. Reports submitted through one of the incident forms are addressed through a coordinated university approach. These reporting forms are for non-emergency reporting only. If any person may be in danger, call 911 immediately.

New regulations regarding Title IX have been released and will go into effect on August 14. Elise Glenn, chief diversity and inclusion officer/Title IX coordinator, addresses what these mean for IUP policies, procedures, and the university community.

Ramadan Awareness and Insight

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, will be from approximately April 23 to May 23 this year, with some dates overlapping finals week. Increased awareness and further insight into student life, especially during exams, is appreciated.

Since 1986, the IUP Women’s Leadership awards have recognized women—both students and staff—for their outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence, and community contributions on and off campus.

From Your Title IX Coordinator: Continued Support and Reminders

Now that classes and other academic programs are being provided online and through alternative delivery methods, we in the Social Equity and Title IX Office want to remind members of our community that maintaining an academic program free from sexual or gender discrimination or misconduct remains a high priority for the university.

2020 IUP Women's Leadership Awards Applications Now Being Accepted

Students are invited to apply for the 2020 IUP Women’s Leadership Awards. Recipients are selected based on their campus leadership experience, academic excellence, and community achievements. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 6. Faculty and staff are asked to please spread the word and encourage students to apply.
