Exploring the Potential of Elicit AI: Becoming Better Consumers of Scholarly Literature, Writers, and Mentors

Awarded to: Crystal Machado, Kelli Jo Kerry Moran, and Mimi Benjamin

Competing demands often limit faculty’s ability to engage in scholarship. The Faculty Writing Group, which meets every Friday via Zoom, provides circle members with a virtual space for discussing and engaging in scholarship related to teaching, learning, and student success. Grant funding will be used to purchase a book, which we will share, and a year’s license of Elicit Pro, a popular Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool, for four circle members. This software will enhance their ability to use AI for research design, analysis, and writing for publication. Additionally, they will be better able to mentor graduate students and support their use of AI for coursework, dissertations, and writing for publication.

Fueling Success and Preventing Doctoral Student Burnout

Awarded to: Meigan Robb, Kristy Chunta, and Taylor Edwards

Doctoral students often experience burnout during the dissertation process that can be potentially mediated by their chair. The goal of this project is to identify practical strategies for successfully guiding students, managing their progress, and fostering supportive and productive relationships. Equipping faculty with best practice strategies is one method for preventing doctoral student burnout by fueling their success.
