Step 1: Review Admission Requirements

Steps 2-4: Complete the Application
- Complete the . Or download a paper application.
- Indicate your first- and second-choice majors. If you're not admissible to your first, you'll be considered for your second.
- If you submit improved transcripts and/or SAT scores with a request to be reconsidered for your first choice, we'll re-review your application, provided that space is available. No worries, no need to reapply!
- If you're unsure: Choose the majors you feel most interested in now, or consider applying for the University College. You'll be given opportunities and advising as you explore majors to find the best fit for you.
- Students interested in secondary education: Look for your major according to the subject you want to teach. For example, if you want to teach high school English, look for "English Education" under the English Department.
- If you're interested in a major not on the list, contact the Admissions Office at admissions-inquiry@iup.edu.
- Provide any additional information that may be required for your major by the academic department. See Special Requirements for Freshman in Specific Majors.
Step 5: Submit Required Materials
- Please send the following to application-docs@iup.edu:
- Your official high school transcripts and/or GED. We can use this for your decision without test scores, so make sure you get it to us quickly. You can request it through your school counseling office or you can upload a copy through your .
- Your official SAT or ACT scores (optional). IUP SAT code: 2652; ACT code: 3704.
- Cook Honors College Supplement Form—students applying to the Cook Honors College only. Find the form and additional instructions here.
- Personal Statement—required for students who have been out of school for a year or more only. This is optional for all other students.
Step 6: Consider Submitting Optional Materials

- Letter(s) of recommendation
- Personal essay
- Transcripts for college coursework completed in high school/dual enrollment (to receive academic credit at IUP)
- AP test scores (to receive academic credit at IUP)
