Assistant Professor, Interior Design

Belinda Nuth Sloboda is an assistant professor of interior design at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. She completed her doctoral work in special education from Slippery Rock University, and her dissertation was titled “Multi-Sensory Room Usage in Medium-Sized Elementary Schools in Western PA: A Case Study.” She joined the IUP faculty in 2015. Her research interests include designing for special needs as well as residential design, where she specializes in kitchen and bath design. Nuth Sloboda is the author of Interior Design Guidelines for Autism Spectrum Disorder (forthcoming).

Nuth Sloboda has been consulting for over 25 years and is a certified interior designer, having received her National Council for Interior Design Qualification certification. She is also a certified kitchen designer through the National Kitchen and Bath Association and is a certified LEED Green Associate (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) through the US Green Building Council.

She is a professional member of the PA West Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, the Pittsburgh Tri State Chapter of the NKBA, and the Green Building Alliance. She also serves as co-advisor for the student chapter of ASID and the faculty advisor of the student chapter of the NKBA at IUP.
