Common Goods is a pop-up store featuring laser-cut paper packages of items we need but cannot buy, like empathy, security and rainbows. The packages were designed by students in Sharon Massey and Sean Derry’s 3D Design classes. Each package is for sale, and all proceeds go toward the IUP Student Assistance Fund.
Sculpture Support System, an artist collective led by Sharon Massey and Sean Derry, presented “Traffic Island Oasis” on Sunday, September 27—transforming the traffic island on Oakland Avenue into an island oasis.
Sean Derry, associate professor in the Department of Art and Design, was awarded first prize in Sculpture for his installation, “to borrow breath.”
Associate professors Sean Derry and Sharon Massey presented at SculptureX: Art & Agency, an annual symposium founded in 2010 serving the region of ϳԹ, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, and Ontario.
Art History professor Irene Kabala will have part of her permanent personal collection exhibited at the Hoyt in New Castle in November 2020.
Associate Professor BA Harrington was awarded an inaugural Craft Research Fund Fellowship by the Center for Craft to support her research project, Suite Américaine, a body of work that references historical American furniture designed and built specifically for use by women.
