Family and consumer sciences education senior, Trinity Boland, won first place at the Salvation Army’s Runway Repurposed fashion show in Pittsburgh on May 22, 2024. Trinity submitted an original design and participated in the runway event.
Alexis Shirk, a family and consumer sciences education undergraduate student, received the 2024 ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship award.

IUP’s Health and Physical Education Program recently developed a partnership with Butler County Community College (BC3) in developing a 2+2 pathway for students interested in earning teacher certification.
The Health and Physical Education Program held an all-day conference for certified teachers from around western ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. The training included sessions on adapted physical education, sex education, addictive substances, school wellness, and outdoor education pursuits.
Torri Ashbaugh, a senior undergraduate student in the Health and Physical Education Teacher Education program, was recognized as the 2023 recipient of the Outstanding Future Professional Award.
Riley Prugh, a junior undergraduate student in the Health and Physical Education Teacher Education program, was recognized as the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Future Professional Award.
SHAPE America–Society of Health and Physical Educators will honor Paige Mikesell of IUP as a Major of the Year during the organization’s 136th national convention and expo, April 26–30, 2022, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
