Professor Jean-Louis Dassier earned his PhD in foreign and second language education at the Ohio State University in 1997.
Dassier also earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree at the Universite de Paris VIII, majoring in English and American civilization and culture. In addition, he earned a MA from the University of Delaware in French literature (17th/18th centuries) and applied linguistics in 1992.
Before coming to IUP, Professor Dassier worked at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he taught French at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and co-designed and co-directed the masters of arts in the teaching of languages (MATL in TESOL, French, and Spanish). He also taught French and education courses at Northern Michigan University, where he was the supervisor of the foreign language teacher certification program. Dassier has extensive experience in the use of computers in academia and in program assessment.
