Marveta Ryan-Sams is an associate professor of Spanish. She teaches courses in language and composition, as well as Hispanic American and Caribbean literature and culture.
Ryan-Sams completed her doctorate in Hispanic Literatures at Harvard University in 1999, with a dissertation titled "Race, Culture, and Nation in Late Nineteenth-Century poetry from the Dominican Republic." She has published articles and given conference presentations on Dominican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican literature about African and Native American heritage.
Ryan-Sams is also the coordinator of IUP's Pan-African Studies program.
