Search our collections right from our home page using Library Search. Find resources from library catalog, our list of electronic journals, and our electronic databases all from the same starting point.
What do the "Search In" Options Do?
Select an option from the Search In dropdown to control where the system focuses your search and how it uses your search terms.
- Discovery Search: Selecting this option searches the Library Catalog (which includes print and electronic journals and books) and Primo Central, a large collection of online information sources.
- Library Catalog: This option focuses your search on items held by the IUP Libraries (including print and electronic materials). If you're looking for a book, or want to see if we own a journal, select Library Catalog to search.
- E-Journal Titles A-Z: Select this option to create a list of our electronic journals. You can use journal titles or keywords (such as topics or subjects). Searching in this tab will return both journals to which we subscribe and articles from our collections.
- Course Reserves: Use this option to search for books placed on reserve by professors. Reserve books can be checked out for a short period of time (usually restricted to in-library use), so that all students in a class can have access to key readings.
- Advanced Search: Selecting this option will open your search using the Advanced Search interface, where you can select specific fields to search in, use Boolean operators to combine phrases, and more.
Please Note: if you do not see a new tab after submitting your search, make sure to allow pop-ups from www.iup.edu.
What Do the Buttons Do?
We want you to have convenient, quick access to the resources and support services you need. The buttons located beneath the search bar lead to information about our research support services, ways to connect with faculty librarians for in-depth help, and direct access to specialized subject-focused resources.
- Tutorials: Find tutorials, videos, and other tools to help you conduct a library search and use our library materials.
- Ask a Librarian: Click this button to send us a question at any time. Our librarians will all receive an email with your question, and someone will get back to you within 24 hours. During reference hours, you can also chat with the reference librarian if you need help!
- Library Databases: Sometimes you know exactly what information source you need to use. Click on the Library Databases button to jump to our , where you can select databases by name or subject area.
