Through the generosity of alumni, friends, and family, as well as grant funded scholarships, the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences was able to award over $330,000 in scholarships to deserving students in 2020鈥�1.

Okisamen Publishes on Implementation of Runge-Kutta Algorithm
Aziegbemi Okisamen, a student in the MS in Applied Mathematics program, saw the publication of his co-authored work 鈥淥n The Derivation and Implementation of a Fifth-Stage Fourth-Order Runge鈥揔utta Formula for Solving Initial Value Problems in Ordinary Differential Equations鈥� in International Organization of Scientific Research Journal of Mathematics.

Additional Mathematics Tutoring via Zoom
The tutoring that normally would have occurred in the library for ALEKS in DVST 083, 093, and MATH 100 and the聽PAPA, PRAXIS, MATH 151, and 152 tutoring that was held in Stright 302 has now been transitioned to an online format.

S-COAM Program to Offer Mathematica Workshops
The S-COAM program will offer two workshops in February 2020 on the software Mathematica, a modern technical computing system spanning most areas of technical computing鈥攊ncluding neural networks, machine learning, image processing, geometry, data science, visualizations, and others.
Colen Serves as Fulbright Specialist Program Fellow
In November鈥揇ecember 2019, Yong Colen, Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, visited Tomsk State University, Russian Federation for a six-week assignment. In addition to providing feedback on its newly formed Tomsk International Science Program, he gave workshops for faculty, staff, and students on the theme 鈥淐onceptual Teaching and Learning.鈥�
